A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Dr. Eddie Hackler III is a practicing cardiologist in Atlanta, Georgia. He completed his Cardiology fellowship at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. He is also a board certified Internal Medicine Physician and completed his training at University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas, Texas. He earned a Bachelors of Science degree from Bowling Green State University and a Doctor of Medicine from Meharry Medical College.
A natural born leader, Dr. Hackler has a passion for leadership and advocacy. Throughout his matriculation through medical school he held positions such as Mr. Meharry, Student Body President and Meharry’s Board of Trustees member. Also during this time he served as a Robert Wood Johnson Health Policy scholar and took additional coursework to obtain a certificate in Health Policy with a concentration in Healthcare Disparities at graduation.
During his residency training he was selected to complete a global health elective where he spent time in Cape Town, South Africa working as a physician in their major hospital. He is a published author and has conducted research investigating racial disparities in cardiovascular diseases.
Dr. Hackler has been featured in several articles, on several podcasts and has spoken across the nation. His personal mantra is a quote from Napoleon Hill that states “You become what you think about”. He goes on state, “My advice for young minorities, especially those pursuing medicine, is to first know that you are worthy, deserving and needed! Secondly, seek mentorship and lastly never forget to lift as you climb.”
In his sparetime, Dr. Hackler enjoys spending quality time with his loved ones, traveling across the world, exercising, reading, trying out new restaurants and playing the violin.
